The recent news about more than 2000 babies infected with Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE), which caused by rota-virus really shocked me. Two fatalities were reported early this month. What are the symptoms of AGE? My youngest son have been taken the rota-virus vaccination when a pediatrics recommended to us. I pray to Allah swt that the disease can be controlled and all the infected babies fully recovered soon.

I took me nearly 7 years to get back to the driving range....to do some swing practices. My friend persuaded me so hard to join him at the driving range. I think with proper training and practice I can get the good rhythm to swing and hit the ball correctly.....

More and more news about the effect of global warming and the climate have been published daily. There were heavy storms in various places including Malaysia, i.e. Kulim; heavy snow in Japan and some European countries, drought in Africa, etc.
And I strongly believe this inconsistent weather also caused some disharmonious incidents in Malaysia too, i.e. pig heads were found in front of mosques (masjid), people trying to commit suicide increased, etc.......

My in laws went to Kuala Perlis for a special dinner. Coincidentally, Afiq Danial and Aina celebrated their birthdays together. We arrived there at 6.40pm and all the meals were ready. We performed our Maghrib prayers at a new mosque besides the food court. A very clean and convenience mosque....kudos to the committees.......

I was very delighted to meet some of my juniors and senior at the ALSPEN Charity Futsal Carnival on 22/1/2012.

The oldies....from batches of 1982,1983,1984 and juniors, were gathered at the football field. What a great environment!! Kudos to the organizing committees to materialise the event. Hope this event can be organised again next year and becomes annual event.....

I was among of the UUM's senior officers participated in the retreat program organised by Chancellery department. It was an amazing retreat though. I've managed to get to know some of the professors and senior officers more closely. More importantly, the VC also able to deliver his vision and mission on improving UUM. Of course, this certainly requires so much efforts, cooperation, teamwork, diligence and etc.

A friend, but not so closed commented in my FB. He is strongly believed in his political doctrine. For me, it's always up to him....who he wants to support or cast the vote. He seems to post something related to his political doctrine regularly and sometimes criticizing his non-supporters. I don't have any problems with his postings in FB. Just post anything he likes most and I don't care much about it. Actually, he commented about my posting....something about some UPSI students extraordinary attitude.......

This was the date when we tied the knot. I always feel so grateful to have her as my companion. It has been few years for us to really understand well each other. Alhamdulillah, The Almighty Allah SWT has given us so memorable moments together. The most important thing in our lives of course to tolerate with each other and always respect each other. I've planned a futsal tournament next week and will be organised by Alumni Centre,UUM. Yes...it's true....that I'm a die hard fan for futsal. I enjoy playing futsal every Wednesday and Friday nights. I bought a pair of Adidas futsal shoes and found it was not comfortable compared to my previous Nike shoes. So, after two times of wearing the Adidas shoes, I've made my decision to buy a new pair. And today, my wife bought me a pair of Nike futsal shoes....thanks dear....

I was so frustrated with the recent performance of LCW. He failed so many times when he played against Chinese players...i.e. Lin Dan and Chen Long. BAM must act fast to ensure our chance of getting gold medal in London Olympic 2012 can be materialised. My observation is....LCW needs back MS as his coach. MS knows his performance best and can help him to prepare himself for London Olympic 2012.

I spent 3 days and 2 nights at City Bayview Beach Resort, Penang for a course organised by UUM Student's Affair Department. It's a cosy and nice hotel. I look forward to bring my family here. Surely my sons love the beach and swimming pool.

But....it depends a lot my schedule. It'll be very hectic month in January as many programs already planned.

As the director of Alumni Centre, I always being given a single room for any courses I've attended. In fact, I didn't request it at all but the room was allocated for me. Perhaps....it's just a privilege for the director of UUM Alumni centre......

I took my student to Pekan on Thursday. It's a class activity that I purposely plan in order to give my students some exposures. Hicom Automotive Manufacturers is an automotive assembler for various models such as Suzuki, Hino, Mitsubishi, Mercedes and Volkswagen. For me, the visit was very fruitful and hope they learnt something.

What a day for me today....as Manchester United was beaten by FC Basel. It's contingent effect of a sloppy game before, against Aston Villa. The inconsistency in front of goal clearly materialised with numerous chances wasted astonishingly. I hope they can work out something to rectify the problem....and I strongly suggest the management should hire new faces in the winter transfer.....

Last week my wife and I visited her cousin in the General Hospital of Pulau Pinang. She was diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukemia (AML). AML is cancer that starts inside bone marrow, the soft tissue inside bones that helps form blood cells. Please read more here. The cancer grows from cells that would normally turn into white blood cells and needed some chemotherapy sessions. I really hope she'll recover soon.

The Registrar department organised a special function to celebrate last year and this year Ph.D holders. The function was conducted at EDC hotel and the Vice Chancellor was presented token of appreciation from university to all staff involved. More importantly, a book entitled "Our Iceberg is Melting" was also given to all staff. It's a very good book.....it makes me think...about the importance of planning and preparation for any uncertainties.....

I went to Ho Chi Minh City on 23/11/2011 until 26/11/2011. It's a great visit. Actually, Ho Chi Minh City, was the venue for a conference organised by UUM Research & Innovation Management Centre (RIMC). We left for Ho Chi Minh City from LCCT KL on Wednesday, 23/11/2011 morning by Airasia. It took 2 hours to reach there.

The immigration at the airport...was very unfriendly.......

I've opted to change my Bank Islam bank card to VISA debit card. The debit card actually offers a variety of facilities for shopping in certain retailers. But, if you're planning to buy electric/electronic products, please think twice as the retailers may charge you a certain percentage of interest, i.e. 1.8%.

Recently, I've planned to buy a vacuum cleaner and decided to buy it at a shop in Alor Setar. I was ready to pay but immediately changed my mind as the shop supervisor informed me that 1.8% will be charged if the payment done through debit card. So, I've shown him....who's the boss as my family and I walked out from the shop......and look for another shop...

I went to KL from last Friday, 11 November until 16 November. The workshop to mark final examination for Matriculation Business Management paper was really tiring but it's still worthily as I've met with colleagues from various universities. Interestingly, my former students (I've taught them back in 2002) were attended as well. They're lecturers at UPSI. I really proud with their achievements. I also have a drink with my ex-MBA student who works at Alliance Bank Bhd., a manager there. My friend took me to a restaurant, Hayaki...a very cozy place and the food also wonderful.

I was really lucky as I manage to change my flight to 1.55pm instead of 8.00pm. Of course, my friend, helped me a lot to settle this without any hassle. He fetched me to KL Sentral....and I took KLIA Express to KLIA. It's just 28 minutes from KL Sentral to KLIA. A very efficient service. The fare's RM35.00 and for me it's still affordable price. I took few pictures....so....enjoy!

A recent week....so many people talking about the KR1M.....especially a speculation that the KR1M sold contaminated milk by a Malay MP. She allegedly accused that KR1M sold the E.Coli contaminated milk to its customers.

I've been following the entrepreneur, Dato' Haji Ameer Ali Mydin, the managing director of Mydin Hypermarkets very closely. He has a huge responsibility to materialise the vision of to help local SME entrepreneurs in expanding the halal-based products. For me, it's a very big challenge for him as so many obstacles must be avoided. There are some people who would like to see his business collapse as well. I wish him all the best....insyaAllah...he will able to face all the challenges........

Proposal Defense versus Colloqium

I still remember the moment......when my PhD proposal defense took place back in 2006. It's was very stressful.....and luckily I've gone through with a major corrections. I took 6 months for the corrections. But, I've learnt a lot from my PhD. It's always about how to justify things with strong and convincing materials. It's about to explain things confidently with strong evidences and proofs.
I always attend a proposal defense session in my school in UUM. But, the atmosphere is different as the examiners are really "helpful". They are giving their opinions, suggestions rather than asking the candidate to justify, for instance, sample selection, research method etc.
I'm not sure, if some of the PhD candidates go through the proposal defense in School of Management, USM....and what will happen.....

This was the second year I celebrated aidiladha in KL....

We reached my brother's house on 4th November evening. My sons couldn't wait to arrive there....of course...they wanted to play the PS2. On Saturday, 5/11/2011 my brother took us to Jeram, Kuala Selangor for a dinner. It's a seafood paradise. But I think the food in Kuala Perlis would be preferable....

We spent 2 nights in Bukit Beruntung before went to my elder brother's house in Subang and spent there for 1 night. His wife was in bad condition due to dialysis complication and required special treatment.

On the 6th November afternoon, we've visited my wife's friends as well. My brother's family also went together with us to my wife's friends house. I look forward for them to visit my house in the coming school holidays.....

As a Director of Alumni Center UUM, I've given a very big responsibility by the Vice Chancellor to ensure alumni are actively participate in any programs organised, fund raising, strengthening university-alumni link, etc. My next program is organizing a hi-tea function on 20 November 2011. My immediate superior is one of my friends as well and he joined UUM about 1 year before me. I searched for a venue for this function. Several hotels were contacted but I've chosen Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside. The venue offers a very good deal at affordable price. More importantly, the Vice Chancellor is having another function at Putrajaya International Convention Center, PICC at 8.00pm, therefore, Pullman is the best venue. I hope 100 alumni able to join this function as Alumni Clicks and Alumni Bulletin will be launched by Vice Chancellor. Possibly, this hotel will be chosen for another Alumni Center function in February next year, Royal Banquet 2012.

Hybrid Hibiscus.....

My friend gave me a hybrid hibiscus seedlings last year. I have grown the seedlings but only 1 survived. It took quite some time for the hybrid hibiscus to start flowering.....and I feel so great to see it!

Yes...gardening is one of my favorite hobbies....and I have grown bougainvillea as well.....
As you can see.....a new flower bud is going to transform.....very soon......

My mid back pain attacked me again.......and unfortunately....it happened the day I need to go for a second research proposal defend at the MOHE main office in Putrajaya. But, as I struggled all the way from my house to Putrajaya...it really enjoyable though as our research proposal has been accepted and RM100k was allocated. Alhamdulillah........
But, when I reached Alor Star airport on the 24/10/2011 evening, my wife drove me straight to KMC for my mid back pain treatment......

A short course in Bayview Hotel Penang

I spent three days at Bayview Hotel Penang with my colleague for Pre-Budget Challenge 2012 organised by Students Affairs Department, UUM. Luckily, my assistant really helped me a lot in completing the task.

We've presented the budget, of course with some reductions from the actual amount proposed. I also met my old friend, Mishar Mohamed.....after 11 years.....

A viral infections fever...

My youngest son is recovering well from a viral infections fever. It's an abnormal fever as the temperature started to escalate back after few hours we've given him medication though. That's why we've decided to take him for paediatrician two days ago. The fever started on Friday noon and we thought it's just ordinary fever. The fever became worsen as he couldn't sleep in the night and of course my wife and I also didn't have enough sleep as well ( my wife suffered most.......I guess..)

Luckily, now my son is able to demonstrate back his agility and very active. His cough also shows some improvements. I think...the early symptom of this fever is his cough. We've been to paediatrician to diagnose the level of this cough. Tomorrow will be another appointment with the paediatrician and hopefully my son's will show fully recovery.

It's an examination week!

My eldest son, Along is having his examination this week. As a parent, I feel that it's quite challenging to help him in his revision...and that's why, my wife takes this responsibility. Yes...we've bought him a number of books...particularly few core subjects such as Mathematics, Bahasa Melayu, English and Science. Luckily, for Agama Islam, Jawi & Arabic, we manage to persuade his Al-Quran recital teacher to conduct special session for these subjects.

I hope Along can answer all the questions accordingly and gets an outstanding results......insyaAllah....

Psychotic Depression

One of my student is diagnosed with Psychotic Depression (read more here).

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, a person who is psychotic is out of touch with reality. People with psychosis may hear "voices." Or they may have strange and illogical ideas. For example, they may think that others can hear their thoughts or are trying to harm them. Or they might think they are the President of the United States or some other famous person.

People with psychotic depression may get angry for no apparent reason. Or they may spend a lot of time by themselves or in bed, sleeping during the day and staying awake at night. A person with psychotic depression may neglect appearance by not bathing or changing clothes. Or that person may be hard to talk to. Perhaps he or she barely talks or else says things that make no sense.

So, please take care of your mental health... OK.

I went Putrajaya with Dr. Mohamed Najib Saleh last night to present research proposal to the Ministry of Higher Education. The session went as planned...very smoothly with few unexpected questions raised by the reviewing committee. We were very fortunate as we managed to impress the committee.

We stayed at the Tune Hotel LLCT KL. It's a terrible hotel.......and I promised to myself.....I won't stay there anymore.

2012 Budget

It's tabled last Friday....and so many noises still can be heard. Some felt very lucky...and thanked to Government. Some felt opposite way....and very angered with so called General-Election Bound Budget.

For me......it's a good budget in order to coupe with inflation issues. But, it always depends a lot on the business community though...as some government agencies failed to curb the price hiking processes.....

I still can remember the memorable day in life......my convocation in July 1997. It was great atmosphere....with thousands of guests, parents, graduands.....all celebrated this wonderful day spectacularly. My mother and my late brother were in the Dewan Muadzam Shah....witnessing my glorious moments...of....I have never done it alone. Special gratitude went to my mother, brothers, sisters, my teachers and lecturers, friends and pals.......

I want to congratulate all students for their convocation.....and I can see the pleasant and amazing faces of joy.....and very proud parents.......

It's so a great feeling for me as the function worked as planned. "Majlis Tautan Aidilfitri Alumni UUM" was organised in order to enable our Vice Chancellor to join this event. The crowd consisted of various mixture of batches graduated from UUM. Vice Chancellor was so happy....as more than 150 UUM Alumni managed to participate in the event. My son...celebrated his 1st birthday today. We plan to organise a special breaking fast at my house and to invite closed friends and relatives, my in-laws too. But, unfortunately, I need to attend an official breaking fast organised by Alumni UUM (Cetral Chapter) in Vistana Hotel KL. However, a simple party is enough to express my love to my family though....

Today was a great surprise for me. I've been appointed as the new Director for Alumni Centre UUM. However, I was not able to attend the submission of credential since I didn't get the information earlier.....and I was involved in a Proton Holdings Bhd. HR Director visit to my school. I just want to express my gratitude to the Vice Chancellor to appoint me for the post (luckily my friend informed him about my absent).

More importantly, 29/7/2011 my celebrates her 81st birthday....and I really happy because she's staying with me for almost 1 year now. My wife and I plan for a birthday party at brother's house tomorrow in Sungai Petani...

I pray to Allah SWT for her health, prosperity and happiness...

I like to read novels.....and some of my favourite authors are Sidney Sheldon, David Morrell, Roderick Thorp and many more. But, during my campus life, I've read quite a number of novels unfortunately, I could not understand much...even I needed a dictionary to assist me understand some new vocabularies......

Some of the novels were adapted to movies such as Rambo-First Blood (David Morrell), Die Hard-Nothing Lasts Forever (Roderick Thorp), The Doomsday Conspiracy (Sidney Sheldon) and others.....

It's a very busy week for me in UUM, but luckily, I manage to do some publication works during at my home.....

My department, Operations, Technology and Logistics/Transportation Management will be moved to a new building....

Many things need to be disposed and packed.....very tiring though....

Toyota Wish Aircond Servicing

I spent RM860.00 today to service my Wish air condition. It's quite costly but the charge was lower compare to an air condition service centre in Jitra. The mechanic asked for RM1500.00! Luckily, my closed friend, Dr. Mohamed Najib Salleh introduced me to a service centre in Alor Star and managed to save RM 640.00!
It's really complicated job to do the servicing though. And, it took more than 7 hours to complete the job.

Incest is something really prohibited in Islam. I pray to Allah SWT to help us......this incident won't happen again in Malaysia.....specifically in Kelantan..

The Harian Metro reported this issue in front page today.....and it really saddened me because it happened for about seven years....before they've been caught by the religious department enforcement officers. Why nobody notices? What happens to the surrounding communities? What happens to the villagers? The incest statistics.....very surprising.....(click here)

I've attended a 4-day workshop on Outcome-Based Teaching and Learning: Through Constructive Alignment from 15/6/2011-18/6/2011. Very fruitful discussions and reflections.

I've also met with my friend, a manager of MayBank Tanjung Bungah branch, Mr. Zulzuraini. We had our dinner at a restaurant, Jemputree. Very cozy, nice and of course, the food....superb!

How many earthquakes happened since the Andaman Sea mega-quake back in 2004? How many times the volcanoes erupted then? The latest earthquake in Sumatra, yesterday really rocked some residents in Malaysia......especially those lived in Sandakan, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka. There were earthquakes in New Zealand as well.....

The volcanoes also erupted fiercely in Iceland, Africa and Chile......
The Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. already said about the incidents happen in the nearly ending world.......

It was confirmed! The deadly E.Coli bacteria was due to contaminated beansprout......from an organic farm in Beinenbuettel, Lower Saxony.

I always very suspicious about organic products.......hopefully organic products in Malaysia free from this E.Coli bacteria.....

I went to KL (actually, it's in Kajang) for my MBA class final examination. Coincidentally, it was school holidays and my family went together. We enjoyed ourselves and visited few interesting places such as KLCC, MidVallley, Jusco AU Keramat, I-City Shah Alam..... I also visited my friend's company at Rawang Industrial Area and really proud of him...I just hope I'll be teaching again MBA class next semester.......

E.Coli strikes....

Vegetables from Spain were contaminated with the deadly E.Coli bacteria. I think we still remember about Swine Flu back in 2008 when it was firstly detected in Mexico. The death tolls now reported to 11 cases in EU countries......

Is it possible the E.Coli contaminated vegetables could also spread to Malaysia?? Hopefully, not....

Some farmers are really looking forward to maximise their profits and sometimes neglected the hygience factors.

What I need is just a little patience....

My wife watched this drama as well....and hopefully she won't ask me to watch this movie in the cinema.....

I've visited Putrajaya....after my MBA class in Kajang. It's a nice place to visit with so many beautiful buildings newly built. My old friend who works in Accountant General office treated me with a great hospitality. It's really short time......but memorable one.....

Land Tax rebate......

It's finalised! UUM must pay the land tax amounted RM1.7 million by 1st June 2011 or face a very serious action from the state government. The Land and Mines office had turned down the UUM appeal to enjoying the quit rent rebate......(read more here). Just hope the thing can be settled.....

Nash bakery...located in Jitra, specifically at the ground floor, Aneka shopping complex. I went there last week and bought few doughnuts, cakes, and breads. Just try.....very delicious!
