Once upon a time....

It was 19/7/2001 when my late brother collapsed and I have to make a very difficult decision. He was in coma.....then rushed to Sungai Bakap Hospital....However, I need to meet my supervisor in KL the next day. I just couldn't make my mind...which one to prioritise. But, my beloved mother, calmly said..."it's ok....settle your study related things and we will take care your brother..."
Late in the afternoon, I drove to KL and the next day I managed to visit him at the Sungai Bakap Hospital. He was then transferred to the General Hospital Penang around 6.30pm as his condition worsen......
The basic thing here is.....whenever you have problem and unable to decide what to do...your mother surely knows best how to solve things......

Flood in Kedah- It's nothing personal....

I was posted something in FB....about the flood incident....and as I expected, some of my friends responded accordingly. It didn't matter for me because I always believe everyone has the right to express his/her opinion. But, when it comes to the flood incident, I was so irritated to hear some people are very defensive, i.e. accusing the electrified double-tracking project as the main culprit.
Kedah is very unique as it receives rains throughout the year. But, the rain falls will defer from month to month. However, on 1 November 2010, the rain falls for Kedah and Perlis showed surprised statistics.
I've read a blog illustrated the flood incident and provided very good insight. Please check this link. The river level also increased drastically within few hours. JPS (Irrigation and Drainage Department) provides the statistics of a river in Kedah as below.
For me, the basic point for argument is very simple, you must have data to support your justification.....and please be prepared for other's point of view as well.......

It's nearly a disastrous performance!

Winning 2-1 is enough for Man United. The match between Man U and Wolves always a hard one. Especially when the team selection seemed to be questionable. But, Sir Alex has done it again, with 24-year experiences he managed to show who's the boss to players.
But, Bebe was certainly a waste for Man Utd. team. He was a substitute and has been substituted after 75th minutes. I foresee he won't be long to be in Old Trafford. Park Ji-Sung was the hero for the match as he scored both goals.

What??? Electrified Double-Tracking Project??

It's been reported that the main reason for the worst ever flood incident in Alor Setar, Kedah was due to the electrified double-tracking construction. I'm not the expert in railway construction, but I am strongly believed that for any multi-billion development project, a thorough and comprehensive environmental impact assessment (EIA) were properly done.
Irrigation and drainage systems, hills slopes, forest clearance, etc. are some of the common issues in EIA. So, to whom it may be concerned, don't be too defensive and stay away from denial syndrome.....

The wettest convocation...

It's raining heavily since Saturday.....and many areas were flooded. However, the convocation still goes on as planned. Many parents and relatives come to UUM to share the glorious moments of their sons/daughters important day. Congratulations to all graduates and I wish them all the best in their career and life.
My ex-student, a friend and a sister, Angel visited me yesterday. She was a very good student.....and very talented and committed in her study. Her convocation was 4 years ago....I taught her co-curricular class, Entreprenuership. But, the relationship goes on until today. She's now working in one of the multinational companies in Penang and currently doing her MBA in USM. I always pray for her success and wish her all the best in her future.....
Of course, I always pray for all my students success and advise them accordingly.....whether they want to listen to my advice or not......up to them....
