How on earth these things happened??

I've not updated my blog about a month. Too many things to settle urgently. Just came back from KL on Sunday and on Monday morning, I have travelled to Penang before heading to KL again. On Thursday morning, I'll be travelling to Kuantan. Very tiring......

It always my taboo not to discuss any bad news or any negatively related issues about other's car. And whenever I heard bad news, i.e. a car met with an accident, stolen, breakdown etc. I just let the news gone away....far from me. However, my ex-Waja, sold to a friend has been stolen and I anxiously told my wife about that.....and a taboo, my new WISH has shown it protest, perhaps.....breakdown unexpectedly when I've been in KL.....Really pity for my wife as she's struggled...alone...but managed to send the WISH to a workshop. When I reached A.Star from KL, I went straight to the workshop. I knew the mechanics won't be able to repair or diagnose the electrical problem although the workshop have computerised engine diagnostics facility.

So, on 14/12 I sent the WISH to the sales centre at Juru Autocity. I hired a tow truck and it costs RM350 but paid by the sales centre. Anyway, the WISH is still under warranty....but the inconvenience caused really made me feel unpleasant......

Just wait for the technicians and mechanics to rectify and more importantly to diagnose the root cause of the problem.

However, today's newspaper (15/12009) really surprised me as police raided a house in Kelantan and found many explosives and arrested Thai citizens. It is about our security issue and I really hope police and related agencies will take serious attention towards eliminating such threat to our country.

CPI

I watch ASTRO AWANI, and the news about Malaysian rank in the corruption perception index (CPI) was the main headlines. The report was revealed by Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam, Transparency International (Malaysia) as reported in a portal. We are number 2, behind Singapore. But, of course, we are in better position compared to other SEA countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia etc.
I just smiling when a politician confidently said that, the CPI was the main factor why many companies are not investing in Malaysia. Yes, he was a very good orator, but his speech was just lack of substance.....
Nowadays people are talking about globalisation and why companies are globalising their operations. I wish he took some business management papers during his studies.......

Why they take MBA??

Some so keen to pursue their study...to get a certificate, diploma, degree, masters, even PhD. It's very good intention, keep it up. But, some still don't know well...what is MBA anyway. I teach master class this semester. Unfortunately, some students feel that they are doing 1st degree rather than MBA. What is the difference between 1st degree and MBA? I've asked them.....and most of them are unable to answer it....
MBA, for instance requires a lot of hard works, analysis, arguments and justifications. The maturity of the arguments depends on the effort to find abundant sources of supporting materials from journals, case studies or even thesis.

They never learn.....an epilogue

Congrats to Negeri Sembilan, the champions of Malaysia Cup 2009. A very good game to watch. I am very seldom to watch local football live telecast. However, since this year Malaysia Cup final was so interesting, as a team from East Coast of Peninsular has been publicised so extensively in the daily newspaper, I persuaded myself to watch the game. I supported Negeri Sembilan, anyway....
If I were the match referee, Indera Putra Mahyudin, won't be too long on the pitch as his reckless and break leg tackling became more intense. The referee should dismiss him early in the match.
But, the most irritating incidents of course, the attitudes and norms of the so called Red Warriors fans....
What if the fire set up by some disoriented fans became uncontrollable....and the consequences will be very terrifying. Many incidents happened worldwide due to fire in stadiums. When fire happens.....the crowd gets panic.....and lastly......many casualties....

An excuse....a lousy excuse

I hate to hear excuses from my students....or others....especially lousy-type of excuses. What appears in the newspaper about a case of a female Immigration Officer charged of seclusion with a Chinese male (30 September 09).....really unacceptable. The case was postponed to February 2010 due to incomplete prosecution papers submitted to the Syarie court. And the excuse given....the main Syarie Chief Prosecutor was transferred to Langkawi, and caused the prosecution paper deferred. What the hack! It clearly shows the head of department is incompetent in planning, organising, executing, and controlling things. This is the basic of management.

Shocking news.....

  • Today, researchers from USM reported about porcine gelatin substance used in the capsule for medications. Congrats to Assoc. Prof. Gam Lay Harn and Assoc. Prof. Syed Azhar Syed Sulaiman, , and also to Higher Education Ministry to offer Research University Grant (RM300,000.00) to them. Read more here
It's really surprised me. Are there any possibilities of some of us might be taken these capsules? It can not be argued anymore, in Islam, forbidden is forbidden, it doesn't matter how many percentage of the gelatin used...and newspapers reported that more than 30% of 100 products tested were using porcine gelatin substance....
  • Last week, a tragic incident happened and 3 pupils passed away.....due to a collapsed suspension bridge. As usual, many parties were pointing their fingers to others. What is the actual cause? It's still under investigation and hopefully the full report will be announced to public.
  • Few days ago, an ambulance involved in an accident suspected due to exploded tyre and 1 Immigration officer died. I'm just wondering whether the driver or the relevant parties are checking the condition of the ambulance regularly. It is about maintenance anyway. As long as the operator (in this case, the driver) knows the equipment (ambulance) condition, he/she will able to detect any abnormality of the equipment deterioration. I always believe on that. This is the essence of Total Productive Maintenance, to make sure any person who operates the equipment to regularly check and clean the equipment. Hence, this allow any abnormalities, i.e. loose screw, missing bolts, leakages etc. can be detected and remedy action can be taken.

A red beachball story......

On Saturday, I watched a football match between Man U vs. Bolton. But, I also watched Sunderland vs. Liverpool match occasionally. Yes, Man U won the game. However, Liverpool, lost 0-1 to Sunderland. Why?? a red beachball! Interestingly, the beachball was thrown into the pitch by a young boy, a Liverpool fan. What a tragic thing happened as the Darren Bent's shot was deflected and Pepe Reina watched helplessly.....
Luckily...Rafa Benitez..responded brilliantly..."it was a special situation but we didn't play well..."

Kuala Perlis....

My ex-student visited me yesterday. He's working in Ipoh and currently undertaking a pilot course for APMM. We went to Kuala Perlis for a dinner. My family and I haven't been there quite some time, I think almost 2 years. Pretty amazing scenery...as we reached there almost at 7.00pm. While Azli and I went for Maghrib prayers....my wife stayed at the table, waiting for our dinner.....and she told me....most of the male workers at the food stall....were enjoying themselves....serving customers. More surprisingly, even when we finished our prayers...they still serving customers......until we finished our dinner at 8.40pm....they seemed to be very ignorance about their prayers......
The surau condition also very unpleasant. No lights....very poorly maintained, very untidy. Perhaps the local authority should focus on this issue and make sure the surau is maintained regularly.
I always believe that some students really having potentials...and of course everyone has one. But, students who are really know how to materialise their potentials only will survive successfully in their career. Teachers or lecturers can only motivate and advise them.....whether they will follow or not....it's up to them.

it's awesome....

I haven't written few days as the viva voce date is approaching. But, I'm still nervous, stressful, bloated....yes still feel them all. Last Thursday, I went to meet my supervisor. He advised me....and his advice really made me feel better. When I watched TV few days ago, PM Dato' Seri Najib announced something that low income people in KL felt so happy I guess. The PPR house prices were reduced significantly. I hope more good announcements from him soon.........

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Bloated.......

I feel so terrible as I browsed IPS website and found out that the external examiner has sent his report already. It just matter time for my viva voce. Really feel the pressure and very stressful. It seems that I haven't clearly known the things I submitted to the examining committees......
Ya Allah...please give me strengths and maintain my focus.......

UUM's 22nd convocation 2009

UUM is organizing the 22nd convocation ceremony starting from 3-5 October 2009. Many cheerful faces. I really happy to see many students, parents and family members in the main

hall to witness the greatest moments of students' life. Congratulations to all. I wish all of you the best in your future undertakings. Be prepared for the real challenges ahead.....

What to do?

Another shocking news yesterday as a powerful earthquake rocked Sumatera. Many casualties and thousands of victims lost their properties. It's more devastating as Ketsana Typhoon struck fiercely Philippine, Vietnam and Cambodia. After a strong earthquake in the South Pacific, Tsunami hit Samoa and caused panic.......of course hundreds died instantly...
We are lucky....so far Malaysia is not badly affected due to these incidents......
Some people stay in KL, Johor, Putrajaya, etc felt the tremors though....

Hari Raya Open House- 26 Sept. 2009

My wife and I organised a simple, straight-forward & by-invitation of an open house for this year hari Raya. Although we reached our house from my hometown in Penang on Friday, yet my wife still very energetic and enthusiasm to invite some relatives, friends and neighbours to our open house. Well, the open house was really enjoyable since most of my guests managed to attend. Even, my friends that came back to Malaysia from UK for this Hari Raya also attended with his families. Perhaps, my friends will invite me to their open house also.....

They never learn part 3: Celcom

This year hari Raya celebration really enjoyable. I travelled from penang-kedah-penang-perak-penang-kedah. I visited few friends and attended my school reunion in Permatang Pauh. It's memorable....as 19 years gone...and I hardly can recognise some of my friends...
But what really frustrated me was the Celcom service.....lousy service to be exactly. If I were the CEO, I would tender my resignation. Very unprofessional comments.....read more here
The Celcom management should work harder to anticipate more challenges ahead and fulfill the customer needs....
If I were the CEO of Maxis, this is a golden opportunity to capitalise the weaknesses of Celcom service and gain more customer with appropriate marketing strategies of course...

Liverpool...new sponsorship

I love football very much. I watch live football matches every week....Italian Serie A, Barclay Premier League, La Liga Spain, Bundesliga Germany. When Liverpool announced that new sponsorship deal has been signed, my brother in-law, the die-hard fan of The Reds will be the happiest man on earth. Finally, Liverpool manages to stop using Denmark-related company sponsorship since 1992.....Starting from July 2010...new sponsor name will appear on the jersey.
Bravo Liverpool.....now more Muslim fans out there will support The Reds...perhaps...

Be careful friends.....

It has been reported there were massive protests near north east London yesterday. SIOE and EDL which are very influential in that area involved in the demonstration outside a new 5-floor building mosque next to Harrow Central Mosque. Read more here. Some of my closed friends stay in that area, particularly Birmigham and I really pray for their safety......be careful friends

Another Pilatus PC7 MK-II Tragedy....

My deepest condolonce to both Mejar Zulkifli Hassan and Mejar Mohd. Roszaini Mustapha families....The news really shocked me. Pilatus PC7 MK-II, Swiss made aircraft have been used extensively for flight training purposes and undergone very strict maintenance regime by RMAF (Royal Malaysian Air Force). Brunei, Myanmar, Thailand and The Royal Australian Air Force also utilised Pilatus PC series aircraft. Perhaps, RMAF needs to re-evaluate the maintenance programs for all its aircraft to avoid any possibility of re-occurrence of same incident......again...

20th of Ramadhan....

I received emails from my ex-MBA students. Some of them really enjoying their courses taken...the assignments, case studies, exercises......etc. Some of them, really desperate to settle all the assignments....A sincere advice to them....please work hard.....
Those who are frequently visited my blog...thank you.
This is the time where everyone is trying to capitalise the end of Ramadan effectively. Laitul Qadr.........I pray to Allah...to give me the opportunity to feel the night.....

They are so arrogant

The news from Jakarta.....really frustrated yet made me so irritated. Indonesia, as always, very much annoying. When we are so dependable on them especially for construction and maids, they are really annoying. Many robberies, crimes, burglaries, vice activities etc. related to Indonesians...
Even, they are now promoting "Ganyang Malaysia"...but in the different term: Sweeping Malaysian campaign in Jakarta..........read more

They never learn...part 2

It's another 2 weeks for Hari raya Aidilfitri celebrations. As usual.....every year there will be some injuries due to firecrackers. Most of the victims.....from East Coast of Malaysia....why their parents never learn from previous incidents? Perhaps, they don't read mainstream newspaper..........or watch tv......due to too busy....

Nuzul Al-Quran....17 Ramadhan

Nuzul Al-Quran is associated with us. This is the day where the holy Al-Quran whole content is descended from Lawh al-Mahfuz to Bayt al-'Izzah and marking too the first time the Quranic verses are revealed from Bayt al-'Izzah to Prophet Muhammad SAW before they are revealed bit by bit for approximately 23 years after that. Why Al-Quran is revealed in a gradual fashion? Perhaps, this article can eloborate more....happy reading.
Recite al-Quran makes me feel better....

Happy Birthday...My Mom (in Law)

2 September is always a special day for me. This is a special day for my Mom in law. She celebrated her 70th birthday today. She's so nice....good cook....and very cheerful and caring. Thanks so much mom!

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

They never learn.....

  1. I was in Alor Setar last night.
  2. Breaking fast at my brother's in law house, again.
  3. After Tarawikh prayers, we were back to Jitra.
  4. It's very unusual to see so many cars queued at most petrol stations.
  5. And, I told my wife, "possibly, tomorrow there's a petrol price hike...."
  6. Yes...it's true. The petrol price increased....again.
  7. It was said earlier....that the petrol price remains....(13/5/09-BH)
  8. I can't understand......why the government never learns from history.
  9. Any issues related to "price hikes" can be very influential weapons for political party to capitalise....
  10. Please wake up guys......don't repeat the same mistakes....again and again....

BERNAS: An epilog.....

Many have read news about BERNAS acquisition by Hong Kong based company few weeks back. I really cannot understand who actually orchestrated the acquisition. Rice, is our main source of food. Many paddy fields already being sacrificed in the name of development. Yet it seems that concerned party didn't look this matter seriously. It ended where Tradewinds has been reported to buy back the share.....

24 August.....498 years ago....

24 August is very memorable date for me. It is the year, 1511, when Portuguese army attacked Malacca. 498 years ago, the prosperity of Malacca was invaded fiercely by Portuguese. The Portuguese started the invasion on July 25 and managed to occupy parts of Malacca on August 10. Surprisingly, the Portuguese was offered an assistance by Chinese merchants to use some of their junks as a bridgehead to enable more effective bombardment of Malacca port. Finally, Malacca was fully occupied on 24 August....many casualties.....and more importantly, the era of Muslim Sultanate and Islam in the region was brutally abused.....
History tells more things to ponder......read more here

Man U: 5-Star show

Finally, Man U showed to their challengers, the winning way of playing football. It's really a good game though I couldn't watch the live game due to bad weather.....I was waiting ambitiously for a text message from my friend (Chelsea die hard fan) about the result. Rooney scored twice, Berbatov, Owen and Nani scored one each. The tactical aspect used by SAF was great. He knows best all his players capabilities. Hope to see more victories ahead. Glory, glory Man U!

Ustaz Asri- Rabbani

Rabbani, a popular nasyid group. It has contributed significantly to the nation music industry together with Raihan few years back. When the news announced that Ustaz Asri has passed away, I really shocked. For me, he's very good singer, Al-Quran reciter, husband, citizen etc. I enjoy to listen to his voice. Al-fatihah.

Ramadhan al-mubarak

Ramdhan is coming...just around the corner. Only few are making preparations for this holy month. Some are preparing for the by-election, some are concerning more about H1N1, some just cannot afford to miss EPL live telecasts, some may treat Ramadhan as ordinary month....I should have done something though. I'll try my best to ensure all the things done in this special month will be judged and rewarded by Allah The Almighty accordingly. Fasting is not just to feel the hunger, it's beyond that.....

Selamat berpuasa! Semoga semua amalan kita akan dilimpahi rahmat Allah swt.

Usain Bolt: The fast & furious

Who is Usain Bolt? 100m star, a gold medalist in Beijing 2008 Olympic with 9.69s, and yesterday, another world record was broken. A stunning 9.58s and that's it, the show goes to him after all. Bravo Usain!. Just wondering, who'll challenge him next? Tyson Gay? Asafa Powell? Watson Nyambek?

FUTSAL....14/8/09

I managed to form a futsal team for 14/8 game. Actually, the team consisted of 7 players that most of us never played together. For instance, I met Shahrul, an assistant officer at Statistics department, A. Star when I aligned my car wheels about two months ago. Hamdi, a syariah lawyer, who stays in Jitra also been invited to join my team. Kamarul and Wadi, lecturers at COB used to play in my team for 2 times (of course, we've beaten badly last time). An Indonesian student, also invited to join my team....and unfortunately, he couldn't show his talent as he needed to rush to Penang for another football match. Fazli and Wan, who were the last minute arrangements to make sure my team fulfill the rules of the game as a team must have at least 1 substitute. 42x 25 metres futsal pitch is a very big pitch for me. I used to played in a smaller pitch....I think that's the main reason my team lost to the opponents as we've never played in this size pitch before. Frankly, it's too big for amateurs like us..

Basically, I enjoyed the games although we've lost both of the preliminary matches. It's been very significant results. First game we lost 6-0 and in the second game, we led by 1 goal for 2 minutes! More importantly, I've scored the second goal........although we've lost 6-2.....scoring goal in the highly competitive futsal match certainly very satisfying....

Naza Automotive Manufacturing Sdn Bhd.

I took my Operations Management Seminar class to Naza plant on Tuesday, 11/8/09. Very good visit as the Deputy General Manager also joined together during the briefing session. Many things learnt and more importantly, good rapport established. I satisfied with my students commitment.

H1N1 Red Alert

An alarm bell has rung! It seems that no one's bothered. More and more casualties...Who should be blamed? There are no more import cases as local infections took more than 30 casualties. I got email from a friend. Just in case you are infected to H1N1, please eat 6 pieces of green apple daily and drink fresh orange juice for sore throat. Of course, don't forget to read "selawat" 3 times before eat/drink.

Just try.....insyaAllah.

A tragic news........H1N1 related

I read newspaper and really surprised as my school, SMSTSSS was closed due to H1N1. However, what really touched my heart was the tragic accident happened. A female student and her father were involved in the 11.15pm accident and both of them passed away on the spot. Al-Fatihah. Drive safely.....is top priority.

Thursday, August 6, 2009

H1N1...now..it's really scary

14 casualties. More than 1400 infected. What a statistics! I personally feel so uncomfortable in UUM....in class particularly. Since many students are needed to meet & discuss things with me....just praying can help me.
"Ya Allah, kupohon kepada-Mu, perlindungan dan rahmat-Mu...peliharalah kesihatan dan keselamatan ibu-bapa ku, diriku, isteri & anak-anak ku, ahli keluarga ku, dan seluruh umat manusia daripada bencana ini...'' amin.

Happy Birthday Mak!

I rang up my mother early in the morning...to wish her.....Happy 80th Birthday. She was really emotional.....as her tears can be clearly heard through the handphone speaker.....It is always my routine for every year, on 29 July, I would call her and wish her all happiness....appreciations...loves.....
She's really special to me.....................very passionate....patient....charismatic.....always knows when I have problems even if I've tried not to reveal to her.Happy Birthday Mom! You're always special!

UM's students arrested

I'm not sure..whether our students are really concerned about politics rather than their studies. More attentions are given to the elementary things....unrelated to their daily routines....study..attend class...group discussion....assigments....projects...etc. The news reported two UM's students allegedly smeared Datin Ser Rosmah Mansor posters during her visit to UM recently. Many harsh words were used on the posters and walls as reported by online news portal . My comment is simple: concentrate on study and maintain the momentum towards excellence in academic and co-curricular. Students must clearly know their focus. Luckily, I was not easily influenced to the irrelevant activities during my study in UUM, about 12 years ago....

Influenza in UUM

I really surprised when some students called me yesterday. They told me UUM has given one week leaves due to ILI symptoms were reported widely among students. (please read more). I was in Penang for MBA class and did'nt feel well...my throat, very painful....but I have to deliver the lecture though....

JMP5023 Operations and Technology Management

This semester, I have to teach another master (MBA/MSC.) class. It doesn't matter for me, as I always enjoy teaching master class. Master class is always very lively class.......many discussions, questions, brainstorming, etc....however, the 1st class on 4/7/09 seemed to be a little bit lack of 'energy'. Many foreign students, most of them from middle east (Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Yemen..), Thailand, Indonesia and local, of course. Frankly, I could not do much in the 1st class as the add-drop process still in progress. Perhaps next week class, it'll be better as the students registered to this class are finalised.

Sunday, July 5, 2009

1st after a long leave.......

Today is my first class...JMP 3083, Operations Management Seminar. As I anticipate....only few students attended. In the system, it should be 43 students, however, 19 students, most of them female, attended my class. After 3.5 years of not teaching undergraduate students, I feel so lucky...to teach back.....

Things happen in a split second.....

A friend of mine used to let her children play in front of her terrace house, somewhere in Alor Setar every day at 6.00pm. However, I guess, she's really thought about allowing her children to play in front of her house again....Her daughter was knocked down by a Mat Rempit and now she' admitted to GHPP. Her daughter has undergone operations to remove blood clogs and fractured skulls from damaging her brain. I pray for her daughter health.......
I am very protective.....make sure I'll be around and closely monitor my sons if they want to play in front of my house....because things happen in a split second.....

Another old friend passed away

Today, 29/6/09, I sent a SMS to Bayan@Fauzi at 3.13pm to ask about his brother health status. His brother,Nilam was a friend of mine. He replied back at 3.15pm....and told me his brother still in coma...I think...more than 1.5 months after suffering a stroke back in early May 2009. However, Bayan called me at 5.15pm to inform that his brother, Mohd. Nazly Osman, passed away at Kepala Batas Hospital. He was admitted to Penang GH for more than a month before transferred to Kepala Batas Hospital. I went to visit him last month, 28/05/09 at Penang GH. He was a nice guy, very cheerful and got his nick Nilam, when we were studying at STSSS back in 1986-1990. But, I forgot who actually gave the nick to him.
I pray to Allah SWT......may Nilam will be included in the pious groups.....

H1N1@ Swine Flu.....it's scary....

I have finished my study leave on Saturday and reported duty yesterday. It's been 3.5 years long leaves.......New challenges will start next week as new semester begins. What really concerned me is about the latest news about H1N1 pandemic. As today's news, 50 cases of +ve H1N1 reported and I foresee the +ve H1N1 cases will increase.
"An umpdate: A 14-year old student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Damansara Utama is the latest victim of H1N1 virus"
However, I'm quite worry of next week, as the new semester begins, many students will come back from their long holidays. There are newly intake local students and foreign students. They will register for new semester on 28 June 2009.The current local and foreign students (from China, Vietnam, Thailand, Middle East, Indonesia etc.) will be registering from 3 July 2009. There are also some students who are from rich families coming back from vacations in Australia, US, Canada, etc. Are there any possibilities that these students free from H1N1 virus? I really hope all the students are in good health. I wonder whether UUM's management foresee and fully prepared for any potential problems and uncertainties. I really hope they are fully prepared....

Happy Father's Day

Today is Father's Day. Many countries celebrate it today, i.e. Malaysia, Chile, China, USA etc. (actually there are 52 countries celebrate Father's Day in the 3rd week of June every year). I just hope to be a better father to my children....and becomes even better........
Happy Father's Day!!
