A long break....

  1. My friends asked me about my long break in updating my blog.
  2. I have been so stressful with multiple the new tasks and responsibilities given by the management.
  3. It has been nearly 4.5 years for me in the office of the Alumni Director.
  4. So many visits to re-establish rapport with alumni done...(in fact, there will be more...)
  5. I feel that good network with alumni should be emphasized in the first hand before asking them to contribute back to the university.
  6. Not all alumni are interested to contribute money to the university unless they feel more comfortable and pleasant with the university.
  7. In fact, when I visited UMK last week, the Dean of Alumni and Student Affairs shared her findings from a research  project.
  8. People are willingly to donate to the religious related activities program rather than contribute to the university.
  9. etc.

The Heat.....

  1. The incidents at the Loyat finally "solved" as reported by the IGP.
  2. So many theories and stories were heard.
  3. I also don't know which one to believe.
  4. Some shared the cctv footage to support their claims.
  5. Early reports posted in the news also showed different stories from the recent IGP comments and concluding remarks for the incident.
  6. But, I don't bother much.
  7. We are facing accelerated prices of goods, fuel, utilities etc.
  8. What are the actions taken to handle these issues?
  9. etc....

Loyat....1MGB.....KakRos

  1. So many interesting incidents happened this week.
  2. The Loyat Chronicle: A story of counterfeit hand-phone sold at the price of original and genuine hand-phone price....
  3. The unpleasant story of 1MGB......which Tun M relentlessly highlighted about the unknown and mysterious RM42 billions status...
  4. The accounts (or private banking accounts) of a VVIP have been disclosed by an international journal....with tonnes of unexpected circumstances.
  5. A VVIP wife also has been allegedly to have an account in a local bank.
  6. So many transactions amounted to RM 2 million was reported to this bank account.
  7. Concerned citizens (?) reported they managed to bank RM1.00 into the above said bank account in order to check the ingenuity of the account though.
  8. What else am I expecting before the month of Ramadhan ends???
  9. Err....I just went back from KL for a meeting and iftar with alumni.....
  10. etc.

Ramadhan 1436H....

  1. My friend asked me the reason for a long silence....(not updating my blog)
  2. So many reasons can be given to him.
  3. But the main reason is due to my workload at the alumni centre.
  4. So many things need to be done and settled especially when it comes to the funding issues.
  5. I have told the management that with the current workforce, it is really difficult.
  6. Most of the management team have never worked in the industry before they joined UUM.
  7. I was a salesman before joining UUM back in 1997.
  8. It provided me very good experiences though, especially interpersonal skills.
  9. In order to close a sale deal, you may need to meet the person in charge of that organisation 3 or 4 times.
  10. The ability of providing sufficient fund to accommodate the sales and marketing efforts must be abundant.
  11. etc.... (to be continued)....

Harvard University versus local universities?

  1. The University of Harvard (Harvard University) is very well known in the world.
  2. It offers various programs to accommodate multi levels of potential students.
  3. And, it is reported that most of the MBA holders from Harvard University are very successful in their careers.
  4. Some of the Harvard Alumni are the key figures in various industries, top politicians, multi billionaire and so on and so forth.
  5. This morning, I received an email forwarded by top management.
  6. A link of an article published by the Harvard Alumni Office about one their alumni, John Alfred Paulson.
  7. He has pledged to contribute USD$400 million to one of the schools in Harvard University.
  8. As I predicted, this multi billionaire is a successful hedge fund manager.
  9. He has obtained a scholarship from from  Sidney J. Weinberg/Goldman Sachs in 1980 to enter Harvard University.
  10. His details can be read from wikipedia.
  11. To compare the philanthropies in Malaysia and western countries seems very ridiculous.
  12. I always attend a monthly meeting with Alumni Centre Directors of public and private universities.
  13. The issues of donations and contributions from alumni to universities always being discussed.
  14. Even, in my universities, some of the head of departments also  always voiced out their concerns about the lack of commitment to contribute back to university by the alumni.
  15. I just smile.....because some of them also graduated from local/public universities.
  16. They are not even contribute back to their alma maters....... in terms of consistent money donation.
  17. Interestingly, some suggest salary deduction should be implemented.....ha ha...ha....
  18. p/s: an interesting fact, that there are some people are reluctant to pay maintenance fee of their housing gated-property........and they are the ones who make so much noises about contribution......

Weeks of sadness.......

  1. My father in law passed away peacefully on 18 May 2015.
  2. It was really a shock news for my wife and I.
  3. He and my mother in law was planning to come to my house on 19 May though.
  4. But, Allah loves him more than us.
  5. So many relatives, neighbours and friends paid the last respect for him.
  6. My friends in UUM also came to pay the last respect.
  7. Alhamdulillah.....I have the opportunity to bathe him for the last time.......

  • I went there with few other colleagues under the MyAlumni Cluster.
  • Istanbul.....is a beautiful city.
  • So many interesting places to visit.
  • I met many Malaysians too.
  • They were in Istanbul for vacation.
  • I spent 4 days in Istanbul.
  • After that, my team and I went to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Week.....Weak

  1. I just came back from a meeting in UPM Serdang last week.
  2. I managed to visit an alumnus who suffers a stage-4 cancer.
  3. She is 34 and her husband is 35.
  4. They are quite successful in business.
  5. She delivered her 3rd baby boy 3 weeks ago when the cancer detected.
  6. Her husband sent a message to update me her health condition few days ago.
  7. Now, the cancer attacks her brain as so many lesions found in the cranium tissues.
  8. I am quite sentimental when it comes to the cancer related diseases.
  9. I pray to Allah to give her strength and gain fast recovery, amiin.
  10. etc.

GST

  1. It will be just around the corner for the implementation of GST.
  2. So many people are becoming tax experts in the past few months.
  3. They have come up with several explanations though.
  4. Even, the The Royal Malaysian Customs (RMC) have instructed few higher ranking senior officers to explain to the public about what is GST all about.
  5. Unfortunately, some explanations were unacceptable as the senior officers are incompetent especially when dealing with more academic and knowledgeable audiences.
  6. I  noticed that some parties have taken advantages of the GST implementation and started to increase the prices of goods gradually few months back.
  7. These opportunists are well known of their selfish attitudes and always concerned about their profit margins only.
  8. But.....for ordinary citizens.....1 big question is always in their mind....."Whether the prices of products/services will increase?
  9. etc.

A gist of the week.....

I went to Shah Alam recently for my research project under the FRGS grant. It was a great data collection trip as my team members and I managed to visit 3 companies for qualitative data collection.
I also took the opportunity to meet few of alumni during the visit.
Last week also was a special day for me. My nephew's wedding went smoothly as planned, alhamdulillah. Some of the photos are for your pleasure......

Do you recognize him?

This is the same place for my wedding luncheon back in 30/12/2001

A story from Bangkok....

I just came back from Bangkok last week.
A program to launch Malaysia Alumni Council of Thailand was smoothly conducted.
The overall cost to materialize the program was also reasonable.

H.E. Malaysia Ambassador in Thailand Dato Nazirah Hussain was officiated the launching of Malaysia Alumni Council of Thailand.
The organizing team to conduct this program consisted of various representatives from local universities.

I felt so proud the program was successful and good rapport established between UUM and the office of H.E The Ambassador.
Some pictures during the program have been posted in my FB

A spiritual leader deceased......

  1. So many people were very sad few weeks ago.
  2. A political figure passed away in his home town and created a mass of people given the last respect for him.
  3. He was so influential as all his says were taken very seriously by his followers.
  4. Some of my relatives, friends and colleagues were among of the followers too.
  5. For me, he was an influential figure.
  6. But, unfortunately, some of the followers were too obsessed about him.
  7. I think it is not right as they seemed perceived him as too perfect.
  8. No one is free from making mistakes except the Messengers of Allah.
  9. Anyway, I pray for his happiness in the after life.
  10. Al fatihah.

Moments of truth...

  1. I went to Bangkok for the first time last month.
  2. It was a nice trip as my officer and I went for courtesy call of The Malaysia Ambassador Office in Bangkok.
  3. The staff in the Embassy were very friendly too.
  4. The purpose of the courtesy call was about a program that will be organised on 28/2/2015.
  5. I also went to visit National University of Singapore (NUS) last week.
  6. I think, it was a busy month for me.
  7. MyAlumni Cluster members from various universities also joint the trip to NUS.
  8. Singapore is a unique country as it manages to control its citizens accordingly.
  9. The city was so clean and the people look very discipline.

  10.

This photo was at Nouvo City Hotel in Bangkok.....certified 5-star halal hotel

We went to few interesting spots before went back to Johor
Some pictures taken during the both trips.

A sad week...

  1. My eldest sister passed away peacefully last Saturday.
  2. I visited her every week at Hospital Taiping during her admittance there.
  3. I really appreciated my brother in-law as he took care of my late sister unconditionally.
  4. He bathed her.....cooked for her......took care of her....etc.
  5. I also never seen my brother in-law cry.
  6. However.....he couldn't do much as my mother thanked him for taking care of my sister.
  7. That was the first time I saw his tears.
  8. I pray to Allah for the forgiveness of my sister.
  9. Al Fatihah
