Double joys....

Congrats to Malaysia football team. The players really understood the coach instructions well and delivered the results. Congrats also to my favorite team...Man Utd.
But, what really frustrated me was the comment from a President of a country regarding his national football team when they lost to opposing team. It's about a laser beam......what an idiot!
Really sucks to hear such comments from the head of a country.......lousy!

Express Bus......

I'll be travelling to Melaka next week. I'm thinking of celebrating 2011 on an Express Bus.....but...yet to buy a ticket....
For the whole January 2011, I'll travel every week to teach MBA class at TM College, Bukit Serindit, Melaka. Certainly, I won't drive every week as it's really tiring....to drive 5-6 hours.....
But my biggest concern of course....to choose the Express Bus service from Jitra to Melaka....and double-decker bus is not my choice....for sure....

Facebook.....

I never thought that my supervisor, has the Facebook account. So, I added him as my friend.....
There are pros and cons of Facebook though. Some people use it in leisure time. Some, all the time hooked to Facebook. But....for me, it's still ok to log in to Facebook for 10-20 minutes a day. But, if the time spent more than 30 minutes.....something must be done. I managed to find my ex-students through Facebook. Some of them very successful in their careers and I always proud of them.....

Wikileaks....National Security Issues

It was exposed in Wikileaks recently about a sodomy activity of a senior politician....some say...he is the chosen one. What really interesting was the issue also related to some spying activities of neighbouring countries as well. The information and communication between the two countries were leaked.....to Wikileaks.....and the things got worst as many politicians wanted to gain support and manipulated the information.
What I really concern is about our national security. Many people want to topple our country down. They will able to materialise this through various ways. Actually, we may not know who among us are culprits that trying to get access for top secret information. Perhaps, they can be travellers, tourists, businessmen, consultations, even students.
I'm not sure if our law enforcement agencies realise this and taken some strategic actions....
I love my country..........

Believe it or not??

There are so many people talking about marriage lately, especially, teenage marriage. A girl, aged 14 got married last week and many people offered their views. Some agreed...some did not agree....of course with various reasons and excuses.
Should they be allowed to marry under age (below 18)? It's not a big deal anyway. Some say, it's too young for girl to be getting married, and it will tarnish their education opportunities......and they won't be able to sustain in the marriage.....
Actually, anything must be viewed in both perspectives.....positive and negative. Do some analyses....get some data and demonstrate which one is better choice. Personally, I think if a 14 years girl eagerly wants to get married....go ahead.....and I wish her all the best.....
Unexpected things might be happened if she does not allowed to be married....

Be careful......& take precautious actions

The cousin of my wife was really shock when suddenly two strangers, Indonesians robbed their house yesterday at 3.00am. Luckily, no serious injuries but more importantly, their family members were unhurt in the incident. It can happen to anyone. Just be extra careful....make sure additional measures were taken sufficiently in order to avoid any potential robbery attempts. I suggest to them to install an alarm system which supposed to be an early measure to avoid this incident re-occur again in future.

It's basic.....

My housing community, Badan Kebajikan dan Amal Alyssa has sent an official letter to the Majlis Daerah Kubang Pasu (MDKP) to relocate the dumping site last year, to be exact, it was 9 December. Our request was granted few days after that. When new housing clusters joint the Taman Tunku Sarina community about early this year, I have foreseen the garbage collection will become a new problem in my housing area. The new houses required new settings, electric and electronic appliances, boxes, etc were the culprits sooner or later. The problem has been very inconvenience for me as some of this new comers just simply threw away their garbage besides the main road. What the heck! I really cannot understand, this poor attitude surely portrays the individual personality. To be frank, I have thrown away all the garbage about 5 km from my house, at the big dumping container provided by MDKP because I didn't want to let my community polluted......why these people don't want to think wisely?

a short but memorable retreat

Two nieces joined me and my family for a short retreat (of course, Ammar excluded, again) to Lye Huat Garden. A very nice place to visit. Small-scale zoo, but many types of animals....i.e. tiger, crocodile, parrots, fishes, etc. Most important thing, we've enjoyed a lot.

Rapport.....relation marked by harmony, conformity, accord, or affinity

I'm very delighted to hear good news, about some of my SCM students (Kulim Hi-Tech) that will be graduating next convocation, in march 2011. They have put their efforts, commitments, sacrifices, hard works, etc. to accomplish their MBA.
Congratulations! Even, some still contacting me....through email.....
It's really brilliant to maintain good rapport with people. I also ensure superb relationship with my teachers, friends, lecturers and others. My supervisor, AP T. Ramayah taught me very precious lesson...be meticulous and diligent....

It's a great result!

It's a great game. Finally, Berbatov has shown his skills and scoring ability. The result certainly boosted Man U players to contribute more....

The Final Exam: Inventory Management

The final exam for Inventory Management paper was conducted at DTSO last night. It's really amazing though......some students didn't know how to spell my name correctly. It is just an indication....whether they're serious or not for this paper. If I were them, certainly, I'll make sure, I write the name correctly. This simple thing helps students to improve their analytical capability anyway......

Business Strategy Series

It would be very delighted to receive an email from Emerald this morning. Finally, my article published. This is my third article published from my PhD. thesis. I'm still working on another paper but on different journal. It's really painstaking before your paper or article be published. It's not easy though. I just motivate myself to work hard as my supervisor whose papers were academically recognised in various journal publications.

Enough is enough......

I hate to scold people. Whoever fails to understand simple instruction certainly needs brain check. I've given second opportunity for my students to re-seat for their quiz...(it's just 20%) but, nobody interested and once the carry mark published, they came and met me.....of course with tonnes of excuses.
What are the lousy excuses? "I didn't check my email"; "There is no Internet connection at my room"; I need to go back to my hometown"; "I thought you won't be given me the chance to re-do the quiz"; etc.
The issue is simple: ignorance.....
I hope the students can learn something from this incident...although it might be a very expensive lesson.....

Tire or tyre?

It's a compulsory routine for everyone to take care his/her car. Sometimes, we might not able to notice abnormality in the car condition. And, it happened to my wife's car. The front tires unexpectedly cracked.....
So, be careful ....observe your car frequently. Look for any physical abnormalities. It is common before any failure, the symptom will show first.....and whether you notice it or not. The crack tires changed.....and the cost was RM320.00.......
An advice from the mechanic...please avoid Silverstone tires.....he has changed many sets every week due to the same problem.....crack tires....

Final Exam 2010...

I wish all the best to my students.......and to all students for your final examination. The clock clicks so fast....perhaps you just feel that.....as you've gone through the class only for few days or weeks.....
Please study hard, maintain your perseverance, diligence and don't forget to pray. I always hope all my students will perform better in this final exam as some of them are repeaters......
"Good luck....don't ever cheat and don't forget your calculator"

Once upon a time....

It was 19/7/2001 when my late brother collapsed and I have to make a very difficult decision. He was in coma.....then rushed to Sungai Bakap Hospital....However, I need to meet my supervisor in KL the next day. I just couldn't make my mind...which one to prioritise. But, my beloved mother, calmly said..."it's ok....settle your study related things and we will take care your brother..."
Late in the afternoon, I drove to KL and the next day I managed to visit him at the Sungai Bakap Hospital. He was then transferred to the General Hospital Penang around 6.30pm as his condition worsen......
The basic thing here is.....whenever you have problem and unable to decide what to do...your mother surely knows best how to solve things......

Flood in Kedah- It's nothing personal....

I was posted something in FB....about the flood incident....and as I expected, some of my friends responded accordingly. It didn't matter for me because I always believe everyone has the right to express his/her opinion. But, when it comes to the flood incident, I was so irritated to hear some people are very defensive, i.e. accusing the electrified double-tracking project as the main culprit.
Kedah is very unique as it receives rains throughout the year. But, the rain falls will defer from month to month. However, on 1 November 2010, the rain falls for Kedah and Perlis showed surprised statistics.
I've read a blog illustrated the flood incident and provided very good insight. Please check this link. The river level also increased drastically within few hours. JPS (Irrigation and Drainage Department) provides the statistics of a river in Kedah as below.
For me, the basic point for argument is very simple, you must have data to support your justification.....and please be prepared for other's point of view as well.......

It's nearly a disastrous performance!

Winning 2-1 is enough for Man United. The match between Man U and Wolves always a hard one. Especially when the team selection seemed to be questionable. But, Sir Alex has done it again, with 24-year experiences he managed to show who's the boss to players.
But, Bebe was certainly a waste for Man Utd. team. He was a substitute and has been substituted after 75th minutes. I foresee he won't be long to be in Old Trafford. Park Ji-Sung was the hero for the match as he scored both goals.

What??? Electrified Double-Tracking Project??

It's been reported that the main reason for the worst ever flood incident in Alor Setar, Kedah was due to the electrified double-tracking construction. I'm not the expert in railway construction, but I am strongly believed that for any multi-billion development project, a thorough and comprehensive environmental impact assessment (EIA) were properly done.
Irrigation and drainage systems, hills slopes, forest clearance, etc. are some of the common issues in EIA. So, to whom it may be concerned, don't be too defensive and stay away from denial syndrome.....

Bon Voyage-Mekah

My brother in law and wife have arrived safely in Mekah. It's raining as well there but not so heavily as in Kedah I think. The pics taken at the airport last week, 29/10/2010. I wish they able to get Haji Mabrur, insyaAllah...

It's flooded......so please becareful

I made a right decision to go back early yesterday. I've not attended the convocation as I observed the condition worsen......the rain not stopped since Saturday morning. Many students and parents trapped in the flood at Changlun and some in the Sintok-Padang Besar Highway.
My friend, Yon uploaded many photos....so please check the link.
Jitra area also affected......and I unable to go out as all exit routes were closed.

The wettest convocation...

It's raining heavily since Saturday.....and many areas were flooded. However, the convocation still goes on as planned. Many parents and relatives come to UUM to share the glorious moments of their sons/daughters important day. Congratulations to all graduates and I wish them all the best in their career and life.
My ex-student, a friend and a sister, Angel visited me yesterday. She was a very good student.....and very talented and committed in her study. Her convocation was 4 years ago....I taught her co-curricular class, Entreprenuership. But, the relationship goes on until today. She's now working in one of the multinational companies in Penang and currently doing her MBA in USM. I always pray for her success and wish her all the best in her future.....
Of course, I always pray for all my students success and advise them accordingly.....whether they want to listen to my advice or not......up to them....

Earthquake, Tsunami....and Merapi Volcano

It was 7.2 Richter scale earthquake in Mentawai and the destruction also very terrible. The death tolls escalated to more than 400 people and I think will increase soon as many still missing. The Mentawai islands tsunami waves were so great as many villagers unable to run for their lives. It was reported the 1st wave, 8 metres high and the 2nd even higher. Merapi volcano also erupted and is waiting to erupt, the biggest eruption I guess, very soon. Earthquake struck Indonesia quite frequently......this year. My deepest condolence to all Indonesians......be patient....

2 1/2 months....

Muhammad Alif Ammar is 2 1/2 months old. His smiles make my heart so calm.....
He can response to his brothers voices....and I think he is able to recognise all. Feel so great as he and his brothers in good health. This Friday, Along will be celebrating his 8th birthday....and he requests new Grand Turismo cd.......I think it's Grand Turismo 5 now in the market and look forward to buy for him....

No more blunder, please!

Tonite, Man U will face tough fight against Stoke City. The underdog has proven so pivotal in recent matches as they defeated New Castle and Blackburn Rovers. Hope all Man U players will show great performance and results. Nani and Berbatov should score tonite.....

DS52....

I've tried 2 times.....but failed with tonnes of excuses and reasons by the management. But as soon as I've graduated my Ph.D, I've contacted the management and asked their justification why I shouldn't be promoted for DS52. Finally, I've managed to get it. Many changes in the terms and conditions for DS52 post. I hope my wife will work harder to finish her Ph.D as soon as possible. I'll always support her.

It's just one minute.......

I always stress this issue...TIME MANAGEMENT to my students. Some of them seem not to bother much, some really take it seriously. Yes, I make it very clear to my students, any assignment submission must strictly follow the deadline. No compromise. I just want to train them, respect the TIME. It's no need for 20, 30 or 60 minutes, 1 minute is enough to demonstrate whether you're late or not. I just want to highlight to my student, whenever he/she unable to follow the standard set, that's it! This attitude must be changed. What I'm worried most if he/she still takes very lightly about time.....and the consequences are really bad......especially when he/she attends job interview....

Chocolate, is it good for health?

If you're a chocolate lover, try to eat dark chocolate rather than the ordinary one. It's better in term of the nutrition. But, keep it minimum. dark chocolate is good for your heart, as well as helps to reduce blood pressure. I still remember, during my study time, I used to eat Cloud 9 1 bar a day....and the price was really reasonable, RM0.20....... at that time.

I couldn't sleep well....

Last nite was terrible.....
I could hardly sleep...
Just can't wait for tonite friendly match.....
Hopefully, the match will be a fun & enjoyable one.....
And, it's just about Futsal....
This is something I really like most...rather than golf......
I always highlight to my students.....just do any activity they liked most.....and enjoy it!

CV....or... Resume?

Recently, my ex-students contacted me, to seek an advice. Yes, certainly, I would be very grateful to advise them. The main concern, of course, about writing a CV. I think all students able to write a CV. But, to write a convincing one, surely needs some skills and knowledge. I've been a practicum coordinator and visited few organizations back in 2002-2003. The feedback got from these organizations, some were ok, some were not ok.....
What really surprised me was in UUM there are many workshops conducted in order to give students knowledge about writing up an outstanding and marketable CV. Of course, the students will be charged accordingly. Yet, what happened was....the CV format was very identical to Jobstreet format.........
If students asked me, I will help them. I always tell myself, be kind to people, and the reward will be from Allah swt.....insyaAllah...
UUM's convocation is just few weeks to go, and all students are looking forward to attend this wonderful event in their lives.....congrats!

23 Syawal.....a sweet memory remains..

It was a great atmosphere on 2/10/2010.....Many people turned up for Yassin recital and doa selamat, tahlil at my house. It's 3-in-1 event, Aqiqah for Muhammad Alif Ammar, my Ph.D convocation and Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House. Well, UUM's VC also came with wife.
Most of my families and friends were able to join this ceremony.
